Beta test guide

Repeatable checks for the library, Canvas, saved recipes, creative tools and optional AI.

This is a test guide, not a list of verified user results. Record what your installed build does. Start with sample copies; a blocked optional test does not mean the core workflow failed.

Prepare a small test set

Create a local folder with two or three PNG/JPEG samples, one short video and a note containing harmless text. Note your app version from Settings → About, macOS version, Mac model and memory. Keep private files, account details and provider keys out of test captures.

For every scenario, record Pass, Fail, Blocked with a reason, or Not tested. Include the first failing action and exact error. Repeat only if safe; a paid request with an uncertain outcome needs a provider-history check before retrying.

A. First run and library

Complete or skip welcome, choose the sample folder, open an image with Space, return and search by its filename. Change folders and return.

Pass: the chosen file opens, search finds it and the original stays at its expected path. Blocked: the folder or cloud-synced file is unavailable. Record that condition before changing the library.

B. Local Canvas from input to output

Complete Your first Canvas, then add Compress after Convert. Select that branch, run it, compare source and result, wait for Saved, leave the board and reopen it.

Pass: wires and positions persist, each result stays attached to the correct step, and the source remains available. Record the image format/dimensions and selected output format if a conversion fails.

C. Reuse without old files or surprise runs

Save the local chain as a recipe, export its JSON, import it and apply it to the other sample image. Inspect the new blocks before running. Then select both sample images and apply Publication format pack from Add → Recipes; review the separate chains before running them.

Pass: relative layout and settings carry across, each source feeds its own chain, outputs have distinct files, old outputs are not reused as imported files, and applying a recipe does not automatically run it. Recipe requirements.

D. Save and reopen

Edit a sample note, switch away and reopen it. Move a Canvas block and reopen the board after Saved. Quit normally, reopen the app and verify both edits.

Pass: the latest note text and board positions remain. If the app reports a save failure, keep it open, record the message and try its save retry; do not force-quit to complete this test.

E. Motion, Mockups and Studio

Use a sample image in Motion and Mockups. Check the preview, export a small file and open the export outside the editor. If you use Studio, record about five seconds of harmless screen content, stop, open the take, export MP4 and reopen it.

Pass: the sample appears in the preview and export; Studio reopens the recorded take. Blocked: missing recording permission or unsupported capture setup. Note the format and preview/export stage if a result is blank.

F. Optional dictation

Only after the local speech model is ready and microphone permission is granted, dictate a short sample and check the text. Start another attempt, cancel it, then make a fresh dictation.

Pass: the fresh result belongs to its own attempt, and the cancelled attempt does not paste late text. Blocked: microphone or model unavailable. Test with harmless text in a disposable note.

G. Optional cloud request

Run this only with your own provider account, key and budget. Record the provider, model ID, selected mode and any request ID. Make one explicit generation using a public sample. Never include the key in a report.

Pass: the chosen provider/model is visible and a completed result saves to the expected folder. Blocked: no key, balance, model access or permission. A timeout does not prove the provider did not charge or generate; check its history before another submission.

Send observations, not guesses

Use one report per distinct problem. Include the scenario letter, expected and actual result, exact steps, frequency and a small safe sample if needed. Copy the report template and choose a feedback channel. The website does not submit a report for you.
