On-device vs cloud

Local by default; optional cloud requests use the provider you choose.

OY.Surf indexes local files in place. On-device tools process them locally after required models download. Adding a cloud key does not upload your library automatically.

Choose a provider

Create and AI Canvas steps offer On this Mac, fal and OpenAI. The chosen provider is visible in the step. Chat has separate provider settings, including OpenRouter.

Cloud requests

Running a cloud image step sends its prompt and selected reference to the provider using your key. Its usage charges and processing/retention policies apply.

Network activity

Model downloads and app updates use the internet. Cloud generation needs network access for submission and retrieval. Local work runs offline once its files and models are available. A Dropbox or other synchronized folder follows that service’s own settings.
