Create — images & video

Generate images locally or with your key; create videos through fal.

Create has separate Image and Video tabs. Image generation can run locally after its model downloads, or through optional cloud providers. Results save into the current project or selected output folder.

Generate

1. Open Create and write a prompt.
2. Choose On this Mac, or connect fal/OpenAI in Settings → Integrations and select that provider.
3. Choose a compatible model and the parameters shown for it.
4. Press Generate. Results appear in the Create folder and library.

References and controls

Select an image to use as a reference. Aspect ratio, seed and reference controls depend on provider and mode. A seed can improve repeatability within a supported model; it does not guarantee identical results across model changes.

Cloud options

Supported fal choices include Nano Banana 2.1, Nano Banana 2, FLUX Schnell and FLUX Kontext Pro in compatible modes. OpenAI uses GPT Image 2.5 Flare for generation and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst for reference editing. Connecting fal does not expose every fal endpoint.

Cloud steps send their prompt and selected reference to the provider using your key. See provider setup and what goes online.

Video with Seedance 2.5

Video generation uses fal’s paid cloud API and your own fal key. It does not run on your Mac. Connect fal in Settings → Integrations, then open Create → Video.

1. Write a prompt describing the scene, movement, camera and sound.
2. Optionally use Add start frame or Use selected image to animate an image.
3. Choose Format: 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 21:9, 4:3 or 3:4.
4. Choose a duration from 4 to 30 seconds, Resolution 480p or 720p, and whether Audio is enabled.
5. Press Generate video, or ⌘Enter from the prompt. The selected prompt and start frame are sent to fal; charges use your fal account.

Video progress and history

The status shows submission, the fal queue and its position when available, generation, then downloading and saving. Elapsed time and the provider request ID help identify a request. You can leave Create while it runs and return to its status. One video request runs at a time.

The finished video is saved to the chosen folder and appears in Your videos. Open a history item to play it in the viewer. History shows video files in that folder; it is not the provider’s billing history.

If a submission fails after a request ID appears, check that request in your fal dashboard before retrying. Closing the view does not cancel the provider’s job. Canvas Recipes currently contain image steps, so video generation stays in Create rather than becoming a video node.
