YOUR FILES · YOUR CHOICE
Local by default.
Cloud by choice.
OY.Surf keeps its library on your Mac. It does not automatically upload your folders to an AI service. A cloud request happens when you choose a connected provider for a feature.

What stays on this Mac
Your library index, thumbnails, Canvas boards, saved Recipes and generated outputs are stored locally. Opening a folder indexes the files where they are. On-device analysis, speech and image tools use local models; once downloaded, those tools can run offline.
Files remain subject to the location you selected. A folder inside Dropbox, iCloud Drive or another syncing service can be uploaded by that service independently of OY.Surf.
What an optional cloud request sends
If you select OpenAI, fal or another connected cloud provider, OY.Surf sends the inputs needed for that request. For image generation, editing or video generation, that can include your prompt and the selected reference image or start frame. For cloud assistance, it can include your message and the file excerpts or context used to answer it. Do not select private material for a cloud request unless you intend to send it.
Cloud providers have their own retention rules, account settings and usage charges. Read their current policies before connecting them. Adding a key alone does not start a library upload or convert local tools into cloud calls.
Check the provider before running
Canvas shows the provider on AI steps and in the Inspector. Choose a local option for work you want to process on this Mac. A cloud option uses your own account and key; provider costs are separate from the Mac app.
Other network activity
Downloading models, checking for app updates, installing integrations and opening web links use the internet. Connected external services follow their own settings and privacy policies. A local Figma or MCP bridge can allow another tool to read or act on your library when you connect and authorize it; review that tool’s permissions as well.
Exporting and sharing
A Canvas PNG includes the visible board content. A Recipe JSON includes the processing steps, prompts and parameters that you save; it does not package your source image files, provider keys or generated results. Read prompts before sharing a Recipe, because they may contain private instructions or text.
Removing a cloud key prevents future requests through that connection. It does not delete information already sent to a provider; use that provider’s controls for its stored data.
